Carta currently operates in Europe and across North America with offices in London, Casablanca and Toronto. This individual will be a member of the senior leadership team and manage the technology organization based predominately out of Casablanca, Morocco. The S/VP, Engineering will have the opportunity to join our business at a time full of growth and lead the technology team to new heights. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the overall operational activities of the engineering group based predominantly in Casablanca 

  • Establish a clear strategy for the engineering function and underlying architecture to support Carta’s objectives 

  • Partner with Product leadership to implement continuous improvement, deployment, and testing as part of the product delivery lifecycle 

  • Establish, communicate, and implement engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations 

  • Design and structure the engineering team to align engineering practices with a customer-first and product innovation approach    

  • Directly manage and mentor a team of engineers and analysts to broaden their skills, increase their day-to-day effectiveness, and ultimately grow their careers 

  • Drive our culture by leading, mentoring, and coaching all members of the engineering team through established KPIs 

  • Partner with all senior leadership members to optimize the use of technology 

What you’ll need: 

  • 10+ years of experience in leading a high functioning engineering team  

  • 5-8 years of experience in software development using progressive computing languages  

  • Experience in the payments and/or financial industry 

  • Ability to communicate in English (French and Arabic being an asset) 

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and excited by the challenges that come along with improving business practices  

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others with varying levels of technical understanding 

  • Ability to review and critique engineering, design, and planning decisions 

  • Experience with scaling an engineering organization by hiring and retaining exceptional talent  

  • Demonstrated experience in promoting positive culture and diversity throughout a large engineering organization to achieve transformational change
